When using shading in cells, all appears fine until you print. When printed, the shaded area has a darker area around the text in the cells. We have looked at formatting and tried various printers but the results are the same. Does not appear on monitor, just when you print.

OK I printed this MS-Word document on my HP 4050T LaserJet printer and it worked as advertised. I used the HP LaserJet 5Si driver.

BUT if this is an Excel issue then it would be different, but it seems to be a MS-Word issue, so I suggest you post this message in the Word lounge, to get better exposre…

Do you have the latest printer drivers?

Could you send me a MS-Excel workbook to test?!

When you print, use the File, Print menu, and then in the Print dialog, press the Properties button and set the Print Quality to best. 20% shading is hard for the printer to do. When I do this, it looks OK using an Epson 800. HTH –Sam

Doesn’t seem to make a difference…Using an HP 4500. Only does this in the first cell that is shaded and not the rest. ????
