    I dunno…

With Chrome I opened it, set the size and position, and closed it.  When I went back the window’s size and position were the same.

I cannot seem to get Edge to comply.

I tried the same method.  No go.  I looked for extensions.  Nada.  I tried always closing with Alt-F4.  Nope.

There should be a way to set it so that one doesn’t have to tip-toe around in order to avoid disrupting the settings.

I just cannot find it.  THAT one issue is enough to make me default to Chrome.

    Too bad, because otherwise…

Seems that either/both work, Paul.  The thing I need to learn to do is NOT resize or move the browser window and to leave the set position work on its own.

        Thanks,
        Chuck

Windows size and position of Edge (or other app windows) when it opens depends upon the size and position of the window when the app closes.
If several windows of that app are open, the position of the last window of that app that closes becomes the size and position when it opens again.
If several windows of that app are open, the size and position of another new window for that app will be the same as the current active window of that app.
If several windows of that app are open, right clicking the Taskbar icon and closing all windows will save the size and position for that app to reopen with from the window that is active or if none of the windows are active, the last window that was active for that app.
You can open a couple of Edge windows and make one large and one small. Test out and you will see that “to leave the set position work on its own” totally depends upon the size and position of the last open Edge window when it was closed and new Edge windows will open with the same size and position of the currently active Edge window.

The “setting” as to the size and position of Edge (and other apps) “changes” every time you close the last window for that app….Windows records these settings to use to open the app next time.

If you also end up here for troubleshooting the setting of the window size and position for the Edge browser or similar Chrome versions, here is what I figured out:
The size and position can be controlled by:
         ..\msedge.exe  –window-position=600,0 –window-size=1250,1120
However this only works the first time the Edge browser is opened – any further experience changing these parameters do not work!
The reason for this is when Edge is closed it still remain in memory and any new forced position is ignored!
The only way to get around this is to open the Edge settings and disable the following:
      “Startup boost” = Off
“Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed” = Off
