      I still have not gotten August updates, they won’t download! Been waiting since we got the all clear. I’ve changed my policy settings as per instructions on this forum. I deleted any updates in Software Distribution Download folder yesterday. Today, there files in there – but the only download I received and installed was for Defender. Seems there’s a problem with WU. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix it? thanks.

      Try running the Windows Update troubleshooter.

        Thanks. I ran the troubleshooter yesterday and it didn’t find anything. Today it said:  Service registration is missing or corrupt Fixed Fixed.  Reset service registration.

        Also this: Service Status
        Problem with BITS service : The requested service has already been started. System.Management.Automation.RemoteException More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2182. System.Management.Automation.RemoteException

        I had checked BITS yesterday and it said stopped. I started it.  I just checked again and it said stopped.  I started it.  It was on Manual. I changed that to Automatic Delayed Start.  Isn’t BITS required for WU?  I am getting Defender downloads, but only that.  My last update that downloaded was on 7/15/21 21H1, which included the July updates.

        I am waiting to see what happens……..any other suggestions?

      I’ve got a weird one;

      I installed the Office 2016 patches. 5001997, 5002005, 5002003 and now my Firefox icon on the quick launch keeps disappearing (showing only the blank icon). When I open Firefox it re-appears, then disappears a couple minutes later.

        As well as the disappearing Firefox icon office apps started getting unresponsive, and every time I opened an office file it opened it in a new instance of the program, so open 1 excel file, have two instances of excel running.

        Uninstalling KB5002005 resolved the issue.
