Has anyone tried the nt/95 “Send To X” powertoy on win2k?I have found version 1.2 and 1.4, but both of them say “only NT and 95”.
I really miss this functionality from my old NT workstation. I
f the powertoy doesn’t work, is there another way to send the name & path of the currently selected file(s) to the clipboard?

Do you know which version works? I’m a bit afraid to install it, since the install procedure is so odd I’m afraid that I will have a hard time removing it if messes things up.

I think they all work equally well. What it does is to add a special shortcut into your SendTo folder, so uninstalling it should be a breeze – delete the entries that it makes. I typically use the “Any folder….” option, and there is registry patch for Windows 2000 and XP that replaces that with a nicer dialog, so I haven’t installed it lately. But it does work. Download the latest version direct from Microsoft, they’re still available!

What ‘registry patch’ were you referring to?

Can you post a link to the site?

            Thanks.

I had actually learned about this elsewhere and created my own REG file to do the trick, but I found some documentation at John Savill’s website along with a downloadable patch. Same thing, different sources.

Yes, it works on Win2k. It also works on WinME. I use it all the time on both systems.
Just make sure to follow the instructions for installing. As you probably know, it is not your normal install.
