Send E-mail (Access97, Win2K, OutlookXP)

I have a database that sends e-mails that works fine under Win95/Access97/Outlook98.

We’ve upgraded at work and are now on Access97/Win2K/ OutlookXP.

When I “DoCmd.SendObject” Outlook prompts me saying that “A program is trying to automatically send mail on my behalf…” and waits for the user to click Yes.

How do I avoid that annoying messagebox?

Hi Morgan,
You are being affected by the Outlook Security Patch/Feature – check out the thread associated with post 176774 in Outlook. You may also want to do a search on Security Settings in the Outlook forum – it seems to me I saw a way to disable that prompt in Outlook 2002, but I haven’t been able to find it quickly. (Sorry about no longer being in CO, but you don’t have quite the drought we do.)

I miss CO greatly, especially duing the HUMID summer in MO, but I definately am glad I missed the fires & drought.

You can’t turn it off, and with the viruses floating around these days, you don’t really want to. The way around it is to not use SendObject, which uses MAPI calls and generates the warning message. You get around it by not using MAPI. The Redemption library referenced in the other responses works quite well, but it has to be licensed and you have to write code to call its methods. We use it at work because our software products are designed to automatically send out emails based on the way the customer sets the program up, and the security patches make that impossible otherwise.
