Maybe someone could help me disable the ability to select text on an HTML page and so won’t be able to paste in Word?

One thing I failed to mention in the other thread (that happens to be on the same topic – ahem, ahem… sarcasm Post 147219) is that you can use ASP or some server-generated code to create the pages.

This will prevent anyone from being able to copy the file from their Cache (Temporary Internet Files).

The only thing you need to figure out is how to prevent someone from copying and pasting. I’ve seen sites (as Lief recommended in the previous thread) that lock out Right-Clicking. But an easy way to get around this is to highlight the text with the mouse, then Ctrl+C to copy and then paste…

      Hope this helps

The subject of securing information displayed in a web browser has been discussed for years now in technical writing (and I’m sure) other circles. The browser is not designed for secure information, and with OCR and other technologies available today, there is very little you can do to make it more secure. Unless you know how to disable Windows PrintScreen functionality as well.

That said, if all you really want is to stop most people copying and editing your text, the PDF and graphic suggestions are worthwhile. They’re not 100% secure, but someone would have to have some patience and know-how to get at your text.
