security update KB 2808679, security update for Windows 7

Yesterday, July 5, an 800B0100 error yesterday when I tried to install security update KB 2808679. This problem is not answered in the Microsoft Community at this website: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/800b0100-error-with-kb2813430-kb2808679/1d410a0f-5e3b-472b-9db1-bd6a812a38a7

My programs include Windows 7 Pro SP1 x86, Office 2010, Avast Free Antivirus, and Malwarebytes’ Antimalware. Neither antivirus scans my hard drive in real time. My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500@2.20 GHz, and there are 2 GB of RAM.

With the exception of security updates IE 10 and KB 2813430, all the other important updates installed successfully (I’m following Susan’s recommendations in June.)

I tried Hotfix for Windows (KB947821), which installed fine, along with Mr. FixIt; however, I’m still unable to install KB 2808679. This security update, KB 2808679, is not mentioned in Susan’s review of updates in June.

Thanks in advance to my fellow members (and to you, Susan, if you encountered this update after your review) for helping me in resolving this.

Go directly to MS website and download it…it’s not that hard. If you’re truly as educated as you say your are, then you should have no trouble in doing so.

Perhaps a better suggestion might have been “Have you checked the Windows update logs for errors related to 2808679 yet?” .

My 2¢. I got this WU and nothing nefarious took place. Dated 14-06-2013. See image :

Ok Charles, next step is to check your Windows Update reports, some details should be available within WU, otherwise there’s the wordy log here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

If you have attempted to install that KB and the error is always 800B0100, the page here should apply: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-800B0100 if that fails, perhaps running SFC /SCANNOW several times with reboots in between will fix the underlying error, I’ll try to research that, depending on your reply.

See the download link in post #3. Try downloading the patch separately using that link. Save it somewhere on your pc. Try to install the downloaded file. If it still fails try contacting Microsoft directly. There is free support for Windows Updates in general and security updates in particular.
