When I go to TOOLS – OPTIONS – SECURITY, and UNcheck the box that says “Remove personal information from file properties on save,” this setting does not stick. That is, when I reopen this document later, the box is checked again. I think this has something to do with the fact that I’m exchanging this doc with someone else (I edit, track changes, send to her, she edits, sends back to me, etc.), and that the setting changes during the exchange process. Anyone have any ideas what’s causing this?

      Hi Michael:
The option to “Remove personal information from file properties on save” is a per document setting. It should stick only for the same document. However, if another user has that setting on, then the document will be returned to you with the option on.

You could download their utility mentioned in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 834427 & run that.
      Hope this helps,

Thx. I don’t see where anything in the add-in you cite will help (am I missing something?). But I suppose I could write an auto-open macro for everyone I work for that turns off the “remove personal info” thing whenever they open any doc. I guess I’ll try that. Thanks for the key info that this is per-doc setting. Seems to me that that’s a pretty stupid default, esp. if you don’t have the option of changing it so it applies to every doc if you want. But that’s a lot like my IT folks here — if a little securty is good, a lot of securityis better, even if it impairs your ability to get your job done.
