    Hi
I have just downloaded and installed latest Microsoft Patches. After doing a Secunia scan the result was “No insecure programs are listed for your pc”.
However I also did a Belarc Advisor check and the result showed ” 1 missing critical patch ” which was Q947320 MS09-043 Office XP Web Components in Office XP.
I have Windows XP SP2 and Office XP SP2 installed. Do not have WGA installed.
Can you advise why this patch did not show on my list from Microsoft to download and do I require it? If so how do I obtain without installing WGA?
    Any help or comments appreciated.

According to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS09-043, the update is for Office XP SP3, while you have SP2.

(Why don’t you want to install WGA?)

Sorry that should have been Office XP sp3 and all the other patches come down okay. I do not have any objection to WGA but I thought I read somewhere in Windows Newsletter not to bother installing as it seemed to be an infringement. I do have genuine copy of Windows.
      Would I still need patch.
      Thanks

If you have Office XP SP3, you do need the patch.
I’d install WGA (and it’s Office equivalent) – I’m not a big fan of it but the scare stories about it are exaggerated in my opinion. It will entitle you to install all updates (if you wish, of course), not just the critical ones.
