Searching for a particular post number

If we know a particular post number, ho do we go about finding it? I’ve tried using the search box along the right-side column with no luck. Could it be that the post I’m searching for has been deleted due to it’s or a thread’s obsolescence, or am I not using the proper syntax when using the search box? All I’ve been entering is the post’s actual number in the search box.

Replies

This works for “Replies” but does not work for “Topics” (the top post in a Topic).
Put this in the browser address bar.

https[://]www.askwoody.com/forums/reply/nnnnnnn/

Remove the “[” and “]” from around the “://” – Replace the “nnnnnnn” with the Reply number.

Thanks for the reply, PK, but I just noticed a typo in my initial post and, obviously, can’t edit it. In the first line, it reads “…ho do we go about finding it?…”. Can you please add a “w” to the “ho” to make it read “how” instead of “ho and then delete this post as well?

Thanks for the additional info, Paul, but when I’m searching for a post on this site and I know the number, I’d rather just keep the search “in house”.

However, Google is a great source to use if you are searching for stuff from a particular site and don’t know any more specifics than a string of text or the subject of the post, so using your technique isn’t at all without merit!
