Search box shows recent activity

Since yesterday I suddenly have an icon inside the search box on the right side. The icon seems to change its appearance each day. If I click on this, it will show me which programs I have been recently using. What is this? Where did it come from? How do I get rid of it?

Thanks a lot! It took me a little bit of time to find the correct translation in my Dutch version of Windows, but I have now gotten rid of that unwanted annoyance. Thanks!
