• Scrolling too fast

Most frustrating with Word 2000 is when I attempt to select text that extends over a page and the the lines just start whipping by. I have always been able to just dip my cursor below the page to start the scrolling but this just starts a race for the end. Also using the scroll bar on the right seems to work the same way. The scrolling won’t stop until it reaches the end no matter what I click to retard it.

    Any help?

        Hi Geoff:

How do you do that again – link to a thread. I know how to post a link, with or without a description, but I’ve forgotten how to find a threads link (i.e. what you paste inisde the markup).

        Thanks in advance.

          Phil,

While you’re composing your message, click on the button with a globe, chain and “2”- you will get the tags:
          [ url=link ]description[ /url ]

(I’ve put spaces in the tags to bypass the markup)

So [ url=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wrd&Number=7262&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&vc=1#Post7262 ]Links back to you post[ /url ]:

          Links back to you post

            Hi Geoff:

I was unclear in my question. I know which pretag to use. I don’t know how to find the thread link. How did you find the

            to put inside the link.

            Thanks again.

              Phil,

              OK, sorry.

I visit the link I want to link to, then copy it from the Address bar, then copy it into the post. Or (in IE at least) you can right click on the page, click on properties, and select the URL from there (sometimes it doesn’t all show, but when you highlight it, it will scroll down.

Duh. Got it; the light finally hit me. Thanks again.

              Phil,

It’s OK, I realise that you were just posting the question to make sure that everybody else knows how to do it

As long as we’re getting technical – why is this thread too wide for my screen when all the others fit fine?

This was discussed at length in the old Lounge, including how to set up Live Scrolling with the scroll bar (is this an option in W2000?). With LS you can see where you are getting to in your document, combine this with the click – shift/click method of selection.

Other options include a wheel mouse, and MouseImp (http://www.tv4studios.com[/url%5D) a great freebie that gives you live scrolling by holding down the right mouse button, saves having to go to the scroll bar to scroll. Also (in W97 at least) AutoScroll (Tools/Customise/Tools, drag the AutoScroll button onto a toolbar) which is a bit weird but give it a try.
