SCROLLING SPEED (WIN98SE)

In word 97, I highlight some text with my mouse and drag the mouse down to the bottom of the page and the page starts scrolling down. We have a 500MHZ computer and the scrolling is so fast it is uncontrollable. Is there a fix, or some software available to reduce the scrolling speed to make it managable.

Annoying at times I know but I don’t think it has anything to do with your particular computer.

I find it best to use the mouse to position the cursor at the start of the block of text to be highlighted and then use the keyboard up/down arrow keys to add to the selection as required. And dont forget the triple click for paragraph selection.

There’s no fix because there’s nothing wrong with your software. You’re ‘suffering’ from a fast computer, that’s all. The best way to select a large amount of text in Word is to place the cursor at the start of your text, hold down the Shift key, and click at the end of the text you want to select. Good luck!
