    How do you change the color and appearance of the scroll bars? Like, for instance on the WOPR home page.

      Good Day Bill,

      It’s not ‘conventionally’ possible to change the settings only for Internet Explorer with regards to scroll bars, etc. However, you can change these settings in Windows to effect all of your programs.

      If you right click anywhere on the desktop where there is not an icon and select properties, the changes you seek can be made in the Appearance tab.

      There *may* be programs out there which allow you to change the appearance of specific programs, if this is more what you have in mind, dropping a line in Software Finds wouldn’t hurt.

      I hope this helps!

        Hi Drk:
        I just checked in Win98SE, for what it’s worth, & the only change you can make to scrollbars are their size. Hadn’t realized that you couldn’t change the color all by itself before. Of course, you could always change it by changing the entire scheme, but you might not like some of the other results.

        Cheers,

          You CAN change the color of the scroll bars, but like the scheme, it changes more than just the scroll bar. Scroll bars are part of the 3d Objects in the appearance tab. Have a look.

            You’re quite right. I had forgotten that. But, yes, like schemes, it changes more than just the scrollbar.

        I think it must be something in the html or style sheet for the page. Look at the WOPR home page (using Internet Explorer) and you’ll see what I mean. Is there a forum for html that I should post this question in?

          I think I just answered my own question. I looked at the style sheet for http://www.wopr.com home page and found the following entry:

          body {
          scrollbar-track-color:#D9FDE6;
          scrollbar-face-color:#8BABA2;
          scrollbar-highlight-color:#8BABA2;

          scrollbar-3dlight-color:navy;
          scrollbar-base-color:navy;
          scrollbar-darkshadow-color:3E697A;
          scrollbar-shadow-color:3E697A;
          scrollbar-arrow-color:black;
          }

          I assume this is what controls the appearance of the scrollbar when it is viewed in IE. Doesn’t work in Netscape 6.2.
