screen saver does not come on

A friend is running WIN ME. Recently he noticed that his screen saver was not working. A grand son had set up the screen saver to be password protected but the screen saver never came on. We changed back to no password but still no screen saver. We changed actual screen savers, done the previews (it does work in preview) changed the wait time – to no avail. Any suggestions????

Edited to correct my mistake in filenames

Has this computer recently been infected with a virus? I’m thinking specificly of the SirCam virus which renamed the rundll32.exe file in C:Windows to (I believe) run32.exe.

Look for the run32.exe file in C:Windows directory. If it exists, delete rundll32.exe, rename run32.exe to rundll32.exe, and reboot.

Again, only do that if the run32.exe file is there.
