Thanks, but what would you use the “HTML Help authoring tool” for?

I don’t use it for anything. You can use it to create Help files for applications, however, I downloaded it just for the other tool, the HTML Help Image Editor.

That’s all I use it for.

My bad. “With it you can create Help Files in HTML Format” is, I think, the answer to my question. Thanks.

Here’s a thought. For those of you looking for a screen capture application, Microsoft has a free one. You may already have it on an MSDN CD, however, it is called the HTML Help Workshop. It has an HTML Help authoring tool and more important, a Free screen capture utility called the HTML Help Image Editor.

You can capture entire screens, active windows, objects, include the mouse pointer, etc. You can save as GIF or JPG, but use GIF. You’ll get a much smaller file size. The package is easy to use, and makes good graphics for both print and online documentation.

Your link points to the whole HTML Help package. I couldn’t find any reference to the ‘…Image Editor’ as a separate entity.

I’ve had downloaded the package previously, but haven’t installed it as yet. I couldn’t find any reference in my download references to the ‘Editor’.

Is there a way to find just that piece or do you have to install the entire package to find it?
