I’ve made scatter graphs before using 2 variables, for instance, importance and performance. Now they want me to do it for 2 difference stores but i don’t think that is possible, to put 2 different stores on the same scatter graphs. I don’t know how i would make it unless one was “invisible” and i overlaid them on top of each other with different colored symbols.

Also, they want me to use the logos of the stores instead of circles or squares or triangles. Is that possible? uggh!!!

Could you explain what the chart should look like, or provide an example?

You can use any picture as marker for a chart series:
      – Open the picture in a graphics editor.
      – Select the entire picture.
      – Copy it to the clipboard.
      – Switch to Excel.
      – Activate the chart.
      – Select a series.
      – Select Edit | Paste, or press Ctrl+V.

something like this, with 2 colored markers, one colors pink for store1 and the other yellow for store2.

But instead of pink squares i want to use the logo for store1 and isntead of yellow triangles i want to use store2’s logo.

The way you have set up your chart, it’s not really a scatter chart – the x axis is categoric instead of numeric.
See attached version (and sdckapr’s reply)

ok, I see now. Thank you for the help. I didn’t know you could just paste in pictures like that to replace markers. Good knowledge!

sorry, another question. What if I want the data labels to show up “Helps me manage my $$” next to the marker/logo? I tried to include that in the source but then it there are too many variables.

I don’t think that would be a good idea – in the chart based on the sample data you posted, the data points are quite near each other. And would you like to label the points of both data series?

If you still want to do it, you can use the free add-in XY Chart Labeler by Rob Bovey.

yes, i do use his add-in but I don’t understand where I would put this extra column – the “Helps me manage my $$” since the x and y values are accounted for. Where would i put the value for this third column?

It doesn’t matter – the XY Chart Labeler lets you specify where the labels are located. I have attached the rather unattractive result.

Here is another option: the Bubble Chart.

The Category is the “Text” (added with a dummy range and data labels), the perfomance is the Y-axis. The Importance is reflected in the SIZE of the logo…

      Something like this perhaps?

Select the info for store1 and create the chart
Select the XY data for Store2, copy it, then select the chart and paste it.

      Select the store1 logo
      Copy it
select the store1 markers on the chart
      paste

      Select the store2 logo
      Copy it
select the store2 markers on the chart
      paste
