When I try to run scandisk it keeps restarting part of the way through the scan. Does anyone know why it might be doing this?

      Hi
Basically, as well as running in its own right, scandisk runs before you can defrag your hard drive, but halts and restarts owing to things writing to the disc. Before trying to fire-up Scandisk or Defrag, run MSCONFIG and stop everything running in the background, except programs essential to Windows, such as (amongst others) systray.exe and explorer.exe. If this doesn’t work, get to Safe Mode and defrag from there.
We have had similar questions to this on many occasions, and a Search will bring you more answers. I prefer to use something like Norton Utilities, which does not halt all the time.
