When I try to save a jpeg off the net I can only save it as “all files”. I don’t get a choice anymore.
    What happened??

That seems to be the way it is.
But it is allowing you to save the images alright?

What sort of choice do you want? You can only save a jpg as a jpg!
And you are selecting Save Image and not Save As?

I would like to save as a jpg. When I save now I have to pick a program to open the picture every time.
When I do a save, all it says at the drop down arrow is
“All files” instead of jpg, etc.

Are you selecting Save As or Save Image ?????

With the example above, I get the choice shown below.
Yes – it does describe the type as ‘All Files’, but it does save it as a .jpg.

I went through the process and it saved the example as ‘aktivlogo.jpg’

Are you saying that even with ‘Save Image’ you end up with a file with no extension?
Or are you saying it saves the image as ‘filename.jpg’ and you THEN have to select which program will open the .jpg?

I’m choosing save image. Drop down box says “All files”.
It is saved on desktop and looks like an icon with a folded over edge.
When I click on the icon I have to pick a program to open it.

              A bit like the attached?

Is it being saved with a .jpg extension?

              If so:

              Right_click the file,
              Select ‘Open With’
              Select ‘Choose Program’
Find the program you want to open these graphics files with, and (if you want) select the ‘Alway use this program’ option.
