I’m finally trying to get organised exclamation
Seriously, I’m trying to use the Organise option to move various emails into specific folders, but when I try to create one using the simple interface that opens when you click on the Organise button, I get an error “This rule cannot be created. Check your folder permissions”. This is on a plain local pst file, and even more weird, if I open the Rules Wizard, I can manually create a rule that moves the email to the folder. I’ve looked at the Properties of both the main folder, and the one I want to move the emails to, but I can’t see any “Permissions” setting

I don’t run Outlook XP, but it sounds as if this may be something to do with the settings on your overall *.pst file. Have you tried right-clicking on Outlook Today and checking the settings there – possibly under the Advanced tab? HTH

Had a look at the properties of the Outlook Today, two tabs General and Home Page.
Checked the General / Advanced and this opens a dialog with one tab, again called General, with a couple of buttons to Change Password and Compact Now
        – can’t see any ‘permissions’ settings frown

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I used to be abe to organize in Outlook XP, but now I can’t. I get the same error message you got: “This rule cannot be created. Check your folder permissions”. I’m the owner. And there are no Permissions tabs anywhere. I wondered if one of the recent updates changed my ability to organize, but then I read that you couldn’t do it back in July. Hope sometime between July and now you’ve been able to get organized!!

I haveOutlook XP with SP2 and latest security patches installed and Organize works fine
I tested both Move and rule create – both worked with no errors.
This is a stand-alone installation using a PST file.

Accordingly, I assume that you have configuration issues to search out bummer

Have finally figured out that I can organize by going into the Rules Wizard and setting up rules there. It’s just the quick method that doesn’t work. Guess I’ll use this workaround until a better way comes around.

I’ve been testing Mike Craven’s WOPR Junk Mail Remover, and seeing a similar problem with permissions in OL2002. Others don’t have the problem, and I don’t have the problem if I just switch to OL2000 on another machine, even though it’s accessing the same Exchange Server. There have also been some acknowledged bugs reported in the MSKB with the permissions issue. So it may just be that we’re hitting a bug in OL2002 (XP) from different angles.

Yes, it’s all seems to be working now, but I’m not sure how it happened scratch
I can now click on the Organise button, and select a folder and the message goes there, just like it should do. Only thing I can think of that I’ve done recently is connect to our Exchange server, but I gave up on that because of the long time-out delay when I wasn’t connected
