• Rules not running

In our Outlook 2003 environment, my rules have stopped running. I run a set for a general mailbox that receives mail with a company code number in the subject field. Based on that number, it is forwarded to a particular person. yet we currently have to “run rules now” instead of having them work automatically. I saw some discussion about it outside this forum, but I’d like to hear if anyone here has suggestion. TYIA

Is this stand-alone Outlook? If so, has your .pst file become very large?

Or are you on Exchange? If so, is your mailbox at or over the size limit imposed by the Exchange administrator?

The pst files are somewhat large. I do archive when that happens. We are on an Exchange server. I have a ton of rules on handling mails from certain parites: I assign them Categories which then are used in my Search folders to sort by topics or people, such as auditors or employment agents. So I’d like these to run reliably. They always had and suddenly stopped working.

        Select Tools | E-mail Accounts…
Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, then click Next.
Select your Exchange account, then click Change…
Is the “Use Cached Exchange Mode” check box ticked?
If so, clear it, OK your way out and see if it makes a difference.

Great, thanks. I’ll give it a try
