Can I rotate a word 180 degrees without using WordArt?

I bielieve the only other way to do this is to insert your text into a text box. You can then select the text box and Format>Text Direction.

You can rotate the text inside a table cell. Sometimes tables are easier to lay out than floating items like text boxes, sometimes not. You can try both and use whichever works better for your application. Of course, you also can put the table inside a textbox if you want to get really complicated. smile

Added: Sorry, table text rotation is 90 degrees left or right, not 180 degrees. My bad.

Depending on what you are trying to do you can use Table cells even though they will only rotate 90 degrees – by rotating your normal text 90 degrees in one direction and your upside down text 90 degrees the other way.
