Those of you in the Insider Program have a choice to make. I’m having a hard time guessing where this is all headed. Right now, I can confirm that if

20H1 branch is already changed to vb_release
i guess it will hit Slow, and kept in Fast
but Skip ahead will jump to 21H1

My Fast Ring is currently on v1903 Build 19002.1 (still designated 1903 because….????)

Just fired up an old vm on 1903. After the obligatory updates tried to change from Slow to Fast ring and it wouldn’t take. Kept putting me back to Slow ring. Changed to Release Preview and I’m now on 1909. For grins tried changing to Skip Ahead and it tells me that is closed and moved me back to Release Preview.

      Windows 10 gives me headaches!

Silly question: “Could Microsoft possibly make this any more complex?”
Obvious answer: “Of course they can!”
So don’t give them any ideas. Or excuses!

Those of you in the Insider Program have a choice to make.

Only those in the Slow ring have a choice to make, not the other three rings.

Another way to rephrase the question… Is Microsoft going to switch over to giving us a Service Pack late in the year every year – or are we going back to the old two-versions-every-year pace?

Sometime next year, you will start calling 20H2 a Service Pack; just as you did with 19H2, because it only has 19 new features (of which only about four will be noticed by most users). But they’re still feature updates, so there will be a second one next year too.

A related question: Could Microsoft possibly make this any more complex?

The only complication lately has been two different builds in the Release Preview ring for the last couple of months. Otherwise the rings are functioning just as they have in previous years.

After switching from Slow to Preview Release ring while running Windows 10 Pro 1903 (18362.10024), Windows Update offered ‘Windows Insider Pre-release Feature Update to Windows 10 version 1909’. However, other than stated by Microsoft, this is not just a cumulative Windows update, but a full-fledged feature upgrade run via Modern Setup Host!

        18362.10024 is higher than 18363.418
performing a downgrade require full installation media

I have never opted for any kind of update ring what so ever, at my personal laptop. Things just did happen. Thanks, but not. Latest is that I lost my dvd-drive station-letter….

Now it’s late at night, and dearly will like to opt for the very-quiet ring…. Where nothing happens… Where is that, any suggestion please?
