I am using the Lookup Wizard to return some data on a simple spreadsheet from another sheet within the spreadsheet. When I am going through the steps of the wizard Step 3 shows me that it has found the data I need but when I finish by entering the cell I want the result to be entered into and click finish all I get is the formula in the cell, not the result. If I click on the equal sign beside the formula bar it too shows the result I want but the cell just shows the formula. I tried CTRL, SHIFT & Enter with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated, I’ve used Lookup Wizard a million times and this issue is driving me nuts!!

      1) Select Tools | Options and activate the View tab. Make sure that the Formulas check box is *not* ticked.
      2) Select the offending cell(s), then select Format | Cells and activate the Number tab. Make sure that the format has *not* been set to Text.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked the options and the format and they are all set correctly.
While waiting for a reply I hit the edit formula button and when I clicked OK the cell changed to show the result but when I tried to duplicate this feat in another cell it didn’t work.
        Confusion comes easily to me.

I’d have to see (a copy of) the workbook if you want further assistance.

Sounds very much as though your cells are (or were) formatted as Text. If they were formatted as text when you entered the formula, then you have to change the number format to something else and then re-enter the formula (or just press f2 and then Enter for each one).

Eureka! When I first got stuck I tried changing formats but I didn’t re-enter the formula, when I pressed the F2 then enter it worked like a charm.
Thank you not only for your solution (and your help too, Hans) but also for the quickness of your replies.
