Some time ago I came across a “tip” on removing the Documents shortcut from Start, the shortcut that shows the file names of the last several documents. At that time I was concerned about a privacy issue and applied the tip. Now I’d like to restore that shortcut and I haven’t been able to locate where I got the tip. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I came across this tip to remove Documents – presumably it will work in reverse either by removing the key, or changing the value to 0.
I recommend you backup your registry first!

      1. Start the Registry Editor
      2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer
      3. Right-click an open area in the right pane and select New > DWORD Value
      4. Name it NoRecentDocsMenu
      5. Double-click this entry and add the value 1
      6. Exit Regedit and restart Windows

Thanks, Leif. I deleted the key and got the Documents shortcut back.

Perhaps this will work for you (does for me w/Word 97)

If you have Tweak, go to Paranoia Tab and uncheck Clear Document history at logon.
      Good luck
