Playing solitaire one has the option to play individual games or play and have a running “cumulative” score. Is there any way to reset the score to zero? I have found nothing yet on the net that seem sot work.

Let me start off by saying that the following may only be relevant if you are logged on with a local account rather than a Microsoft Account. If you are logged on with a Microsoft account, either into Windows or within the Microsoft Solitaire Collection then it’s likely the statistics will be stored ‘in the cloud’ so the following may not work.
With that out of the way…
Here’s my statistics:

You’ll note that as I’m not logged on with a Microsoft Account, Microsoft Solitaire Collection shows me as a Guest.
Now here’s my statistics after I’ve zeroed them:

Unusually, Microsoft has not followed its own programming rules and stored the statistics in the Registry. Instead, to reset the score to zero you need to do this:
1. Ensure that Microsoft Solitaire Collection is not running.
2. In File Explorer, open your profile folder, e.g. C:Users (where is the account name that you have logged into Windows with.
3. Continue drilling down to AppDataLocalPackagesMicrosoft.MicrosoftSolitaireCollection_8wekyb3d8bbweLocalStateUserDataGuestStatistic. (Important: Ignore any spaces in this filepath that the forum’s software introduces randomly. )
4. In this Statistic folder, rename Statistic.ark to Statistic.ark.old and accept the change. (Note that the contents of this file appear to be encrypted so it’s not possible to amend specific statistics [i.e. cheat] as it used to be in the good old days of .INI files. )
5. Restart Microsoft Solitaire Collection. It will create a new Statistic.ark file and your statistics will have been reset to zero.
Note that renaming or deleting this file does not affect other game options. For example, if – like me – you change the option from the default Draw 3 to Draw 1 instead, this change will be persisted.
Hope this helps…
Rick, of course I WOULD be logged in with my MS account! I resisted that for quite some time thinking I was gaining by “staying local”, but eventually decided that it was six of one, half dozen of the other…as a matter of fact I believe I had even raised the question on this board prior…
No matter, the point being you were/are correct that it doesn’t work on an MS account.
Sigh…
Thanks though…

Having your statistics stored in the cloud is a benefit of the MS account. You can sign in on any computer, and the games you play will be credited to you. If you are signed into MS Solitaire with a MS account, and you want to zero your statistics you can not with this account, but you can create a new account.

So, not being able to zero your statistics is a benefit? Isn’t that a strange way of looking at it?
My exact words were “Having your statistics stored in the cloud is a benefit of the MS account.” I did not say “not being able to zero your statistics is a benefit.“
I know. I was pointing out that you had chosen to comment on what YOU perceive to be a benefit, i.e. an opinion.
I was also pointing out that you had completely ignored the downside – being unable to zero the statistics, i.e. a fact.
The latter was the whole point of the OP’s thread.
