The third 2019-09 CU for 1903 is out and includes a new SSU. For manual installations install the SSU first.

Yes, Yes. HP OfficeJet Pro 6978. USB/WiFi/ethernet connections. Tried both WSD and TCPIP.
I ran dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase before knowing about the HP bug and can’t uninstall the KB.
Interestingly, this HP bug is also present in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18990.
        What else should I say…

do the HP printer problems also occur with the newly released KB4517211 update, woody?

Win10 1903 fully updated this morning (18362.387) + networked Hp Officejet Pro 8720. No issues printing here.

is the hp officejet pro 8720 printer networked thru a wired/ethernet cable or a wireless/WiFi connection?

Just installed  KB4520390, KB4522738 and KB4520390. I was able to print to a HP Color laserjet M553 PCL 6 on our network as well as a HP LJ 4350 which is not color. Both setup in AD on one of our servers, print jobs set to run on client machines not the server.

as I was asking Tweakhound, is your HP Color laserjet M553 printer networked thru wired/ethernet or WiFi/wireless/WLAN, Mr. Natural?

        • #1966671

          Wired

FYI – that color printer was just added to our network earlier this week. I downloaded and are using the current “driver only” file and not the “full featured” installer.

Using tcpip for communication and not WSD drivers which some manufacturers and Windows 10 will try to install. I’ve come across network print issues previously when using WSD drivers.

I had a problem with my cheapo Deskjet 1100 series a couple days ago.  While monkeying with it to get it to work , a pop up came up and said installing drivers. I didn’t search for new drivers it just did it on it’s own.  Now it works.  I did take the IE patch before having the problem.  I’m Win7X64 not Win10.

I’m curious if anyone having this issue tried updating their printer driver from device manager? Sometimes device manager on Windows 10 systems will install a different driver than what the manufacturer driver is.

If you are using a “full featured” HP driver, I would try removing all the HP “features” that come with HP full featured printer drivers or removing all HP software associated with the printer. Those packages are loaded with bloatware.

If you remove all the HP stuff, try adding the printer again and try using a printer driver from Windows Update. Look for the driver when adding a printer in devices and printers. If Windows doesn’t show the printer, click the Windows Update option to get the full list of drivers available. If the model still does not appear, choose a driver that is closest to the model you have.

Only do this if you’re comfortable wrestling with your printer.

If you are installing a USB connected printer you need to run the software BEFORE connecting the printer. If you want to try a Windows driver, disconnect the USB cable from the pc, remove all previous software associated with the printer. Reboot, and then reconnect the printer, it may install the driver automatically, if not use the Windows Update printer driver update for a full listing of drivers.

Born has recently blogged about the printing issues but with the KB4517211 update instead of the KB4522016 update:
