I have a report and I would like the output to look like a grid like you can in excel. Is there an easy way to do this? So far I haven’t found one.
    Thanks,
    Deb

Try the Report wizard – AutoReport: Tabular based on a Crosstab query.

Cross tab query doesn’t give me what I want. I don’t have the proper data to use it. Any other suggestions?

That kind of report doesn’t have to use a Crosstab query as it’s data source, but without more details, we can’t make explicit suggestions.

Basically I have a report that has columns and rows of data and I’d like to have grid lines between each column and row (like and excel spreadsheet). A snap shot is attached. The bottom section is where I’d like the grid
            Thanks

That should simply involve turning on the border for the text boxes that run across the detail section of the report – they are presumably set to transparent now.

But that’s assuming the fields touch each other which mine do not, so I’m assuming to get the grid I want I have to make them all touch each other. Thanks, Deb

Yes, either that, or place rectangles over each text box, turn on their border, and send them to the back. The reason for doing that is that you may not like the data being directly against the border if it is right or left justified – but then you need to make sure your text boxes can’t grow. Always a gottcha isn’t there.

If I understand you correctly you want have grid lines around your report controls.

Can you post the design report here or send direct I will set up

it not pretty in design but it works

Is is different than what Wendell offered. I ended up putting rectangles around each field and that gives me what I want. What are you offering?
              Thanks,

If you have what you want, then all is done
