In the old Lotus 1-2-3… you used to be able to put a repeating character in a cell (I think this was it)… that is… if you proceeded a character with then it would repeat endlessly within the cell so that no matter how wide the cell was, the cell was always filled with that character. Is there such a thing in Excel?

    Thanx

There is =REPT() for a repeat function, and also see some of the formatting options to repeat characters in this thread.

      Hi Dennis,

You can do this with a custom format (Format|Cells|Number|Custom).
To create a format with dot leaders ahead of, or trailers behind a, the cell
