I have a database that needs repaired but the normal compact and repair utility crashes about halfway through the repair. I tried to create a new db and do an import but Access still says the original needs to be repaired first. Are there any other repair utilities available. As always, TIA.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJuly 25, 2006 at 10:08 am #1021956See Jet compact utility is available in download center. This free utility from Microsoft tries to compact and repair the database without opening it, so it can repair some databases that the built-in command can’t handle.
If this doesn’t work, you can try importing data from the tables into Excel: select Data | Import External Data | New Database Query, using the ODBC driver for Access. You’ll only be able to salvage data this way (at most), no forms, reports etc.
There are many commercial repair services for Access databases (search Google), but I have no idea how good they are.
