Renewing Office 365 or Reinstalling Office 2013

I have an about to expire Office 365 subscription on 2 PC’s. I use a separate Outlook Essentials subscription via Go Daddy for my domain email, and Office for Android on my smartphone. I have a 1TB OneDrive (not Business) that syncs across all devices. Aside from the renewal question, I cannot get my Outlook exchange account to work on my new Samsung Galaxy Note 4. This is a common issue with the latest Android version.

Before renewing Office 365 and Outlook, I wonder about reinstalling my licensed Office 2013 that sits on my shelf. I would leave off Outlook and keep my Outlook exchange account if I can get it to work.

Will my paid for Office 2013 alongside my online Outlook Exchange make the most sense in cost and interoperability?

Outlook 2013 as part of the Office 365 subscription should be able to connect to anything a standalone Outlook can. I see no reason to not install all of Office 2013. The problem you have with Android is a problem with Office for Android. Have you tried the latest Outlook for Android released May 12?

Did not find anything called “Outlook for Android” in Play Store. I tried “Microsoft Outlook” and “Outlook.com” Neither will connect to the Exchange server and I’m seeing this issue reported by many Note 4 users. I then tried “OWA for Android (pre-release)” on recent Android versions. Same issue.

I think you may not even need to reinstall Office 2013. If you choose to go with your licensed version, it is possible that you can simply enter license key, when the subscription expires. I am not sure about this, but when I installed my version, I had the option to enter a Microsoft account email or a license key. I would expect you to be able to do the same, once your subscription expires.

I think an Office 365 license pays itself simply with the unlimited OneDrive storage that goes with it, but that’s me :).

That may work. I’ll still have my 1 TB onedrive via my Outlook 365 domain email, which I’ll renew. When I purchased my Dell laptop, it came with Office 365. I already had a MS account. I liked 365 and decided to uninstall Office 2013 as it seemed redundant. Putting it back, renewing my Outlook Exchange client, and keeping my MS Account seems to be logical. Just have to get Outlook for Android working on my Note 4.

The link in post #2 is the text “Outlook for Android”. You should be able to click on it and have it go to the store page.

RESOLVED. Thanks for the responses. I decided not to reinstall office suite and went subscription route. Now have Office 365 for Business Premium integrating my former Outlook exchange account on both pc’s. Outlook exchange account is also working fine on Galaxy Note 4. The problem with my installations (MS and GoDaddy support could not resolve) ended up being conflicting passwords among my GoDaddy and MS accounts, made worse by integration of my domain email address into outlook exchange mail. Finally resolved myself through trial and error.
