Remove/Uninstall McAfee Internet Security Suite

Hello – Would like to totally remove all traces of McAfee Internet Security Suite from a newer (2 months old) Acer laptop.
Have read many “horror” stories of trying to remove McAfee products.
Any help is appreciated.

I am leaning toward installing MSE as a replacement.
Pros and Cons are welcome.

Here is all the information you need to remove McAfee.

I’ve been using MSE on all 5 (6 if you count my dual boot laptop twice) machines for over 2 years w/o a single problem. Now I also use Malwarebytes Freeversion on demand scanner monthly and have also used Windows Defender Offline every couple of months. Along with FireFox and NoScript and both Windows Firewall and a Router with NAT. Most here will tell you a multi-layered approach is best. Also be very careful what you click on…no defending against careless users. :cheers:

There is a McAfee Removal Tool. Once I uninstall any app, I do use CCleaner Registry cleaner to find traces of JUST THAT APP. This will help remove all traces. Be very careful on what changes you make in the registry.

I also have MSE installed X4 with great results.

I think I got lucky on this removal of McAfee. I simply used Win7’s program uninstall procedure to remove all of it.
I did not have to

run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (

MCPR.exe).

CCleaner shows no traces of McAfee under Tools/Uninstall.

I installled MSE version 4.0.1526.0 and ran a quick scan. Will run a full scan overnight.

Revo Unistaller works well to. There is a free version.
