Removal of XP (XP)

Does anyone know of a way to go from XP to Windows 2000? Everytime I try I am told that I have a more current version of Windows.

If Windows XP is on your C drive and it is the only OS you are running. You are going to have to back up all data and then format your hard drive. After which you can reinstall Windows 2000 on the nice clean C drive and then install ALL of your programs and restore your backups.

I recently received an e-mail from one of the many e-mail mags that I get that had another, less painfull way to do this. Unfortunately I deleted that e-mail. If anyone has another way I would be thrilled to here it.
