    Hello everyone:

I am trying to remove a line that would appear to be from the drawing tool, however, when I place my mouse over the line, the little four way cross does not come up.

does anyone know where I can find the Select Objects tool, I am sure it is probably right in front of me,

    Thanks

I can’t answer that one, but you might also want to see whether it’s a paragraph border; those can be created by AutoFormat As You Type when you press —- several times in a row.

Like Jefferson, I suspect it might be a paragraph border, but if you need it: the Select Objects tool can be found on the Drawing toolbar.

        Hello HansV, Jscher:

By George I’ve got it, I was able to use the tool to remove the line. I wanted to know what is the better way to create a straight line.

I used the horizontal line tool, would like to hear from anyone, who might have a better idea.

        Thanks

I tend to prefer paragraph borders (or cell borders in a table) above drawing objects. With a paragraph or cell border, you’re sure that it’ll stay in the same position with respect to the text.

            Hello Hans:

I have figured out how to use the Paragraph boarder, the problem that I am having is that I cannot control the lenght of the horiztonal line, I would appreciate it if someone could explain how to create the different sizes.

            Thanks

A paragraph border extends the entire width of the paragraph. You can change the left and right indent of the paragraph to change the length of the border. The screenshot below shows the effect of changing the indents (the vertical dotted lines are the page margins).

If you want more precise control, insert a table. You can turn borders on and off for each cell separately.
