When we open a file with an attachment, outlook seems to download the email and the attachement. We can deal with that. However, when we open the attachment, outlook downloads it again. The exchagne server is on the other side of our WAN connection. So for emails with large attachements, this can get very time consuming over the wire. Does anyone have a recommendation to keep this from happening?

    thanks

That’s the way it works if you are logging onto the server. There is no download to your PC, though it might look like there is.

It might help to set up your system for working off line. This will allow you to store email and attachments locally. You will have to synchronize periodicaly in order to send/fetch mail. Whether the trade off is worth it is hard to say…
