I cannot get reminders to appear when logged into Outlook, despite all settings being apparently correct. Perversely, if I log in through Outlook Web Access, the reminders work just fine! Any ideas, anyone?

AskWoody LoungerJune 3, 2003 at 1:23 pm #682148Usually starting OL with the /cleanreminders switch will fix this, but your reminder appear to be OK since they work in OWL. You might try creating and logging in with a new profile. If Outlook prompts you for a profile when you start it, click the new button. If not, right click the Outlook icon on your desktop, choose properties, then click the show profiles button.

AskWoody LoungerJune 3, 2003 at 1:54 pm #682157Have run that switch a couple of times! The problem is happening to every user on the network, after migration to Exchange 2000 from 5.5, so it’s not just me.
In fact, I am now the only person in the company (as far as I know) for whom it does work. Having fiddled with just about everything else, I went into the Calendar properties and added myself as owner (previous entries were ‘default – none’ and anonymous – none’), at which point all reminders started working for me. This fix does not appear to work for anyone else. Removing the new permission made no difference, my reminders still work.
The Outlook Web Access apparently uses default settings, whatever the user profile settings are, which may be why OWA works as it should.
Having spent my entire morning going round everyone’s PC installing the Vault client
, I am desperate for a solution that I can do from my desk, preferably in one hit!

AskWoody LoungerJune 3, 2003 at 2:16 pm #682168So you (or each user) have now reset each User as Owner of their own Calendar, and then closed & restarted OL for each one, with no resolution? And in all cases the Calendars are Default, not part of a separate PST (since Reminders in default OL installations only fire from the Default calendar, not from additional PST calendars)?

AskWoody LoungerJune 3, 2003 at 2:34 pm #682173Having apparently had success with this technique on myself, I tried it on another couple of users with no joy. Calendars are indeed part of the default mailbox.
Not absolutely sure why it works, but as I have just been advised by OldDog (though Rory got there first), running the /resetfolders switch does the trick. Have included that in the Application rollout batch file, so hopefully by tomorrow, all will be well. Thanks for the input, folks!
