I tried to move my Outlook 2002 to a new PC. Here were the procedures I have taken. Unfortunately, The new Outlook2002 did not come with the email accounts I had set up before.

    1) Make a copy of .pst from old PC and move it to the HD of new PC.
    2) Install OfficeXP on the new PC
    3) Launch Outlook 2002 on new PC and choose “no email accounts set up” on first start
    4) Import the .pst from the File menu

Contacts and all old emails are all imported but the email accounts.

Where did you place the copy of the PST file on the new computer?
Are you reading the PST file that you moved or are you reading the new one that was made when you opened Outlook?

One needs to install the software and setup their account(s), and then replace the new PST file with the old one in the same folder that the new one is in.

        DaveA,

I could not remember what I was reading before. Anyway, for some hardware issues, I have reinstalled the WinXP and OfficeXP from the scratch on this new PC. I have not launched the outlook2002 on the new PC yet. Would you please verify if my procedures are correct:

        1) Launch the Outlook2002 and create one email account (I have 7 email accounts on old .PST)
        2) Close the Outlook2002
        3) Use Windows Explorer to locate the newly created .PST and replace it with the old PST
        4) Launch Outlook2002. I will see everything in the old PST with 7 emails account setting

          > I will see everything in the old PST with 7 emails account setting .

Doubtful. Account information is not stored in the PST, but in the Registry. If you search this forum for posts mentioning account and registry, you might find some tricks for moving the information, or at least having it in a handier form. (I say this based on knowledge of version prior to XP; maybe XP is different.)

You are correct Jefferson, Outlook PST file does NOT contain the “account” information. I have tried a couple of third party sw that was to copy the account information and they did not work very well. I ended up in deleting the accounts and redefining them in the new version and/or computer.
