Over the course of the past few months, I have been beta testing some software on my computer. I would now like to remove the beta software from my machine, and I remember reading in one of Woody’s newsletters that I should reformat my hard drive to completely and safely uninstall the beta software. I have never reformatted a hard drive before and I’m REALLY NERVOUS about doing it. Can anyone direct me to a book and/or Web site that provides BASIC, STEP-BY-STEP instructions for reformatting my hard drive? (The operating system I’m using is Windows 2000 Professional including Service Pack 1.) Thanks so much for your help.

Does this article help? I appreciate it’s W98 orientated but will give you the basics.
Make sure you have a bootable installation disk.
And shout if you need more advice.

If you do a lot of Beta testing, then a Utilities suite like Norton or a specialist Uninstaller like Ashampoo will monitor the installation of any software and uninstall it thoroughly when you are done with it. Could save you a lot of time and trouble. Note that this post was some time ago. Did you get the formatting sorted? Can help, if not.

Thanks for the tips for future reference. I plan to reformat the hard drive this week. If I run into problems, I’ll be back begging for help!
