Does anyone know of a good service that would allow me to recycle ink cartridges by mail? I usually drop them off at our local Best Buy, but I haven’t been lately due to COVID restrictions. If I can pop them in my mailbox with a pre-paid return label to ship them somewhere, that’d be great. I currently have Canon cartridges, although I may move to HP in the future.

    Thanks!

I haven’t bought HP cartridges in a while; but as I recall, an HP ink cartridge comes with a return envelope, so you can send the empty cartridge back to HP for recycling. I’ve never seen that with Canon, the cartridge I am currently using.

I actually do a bit of recycling myself – I refill the black cartridge myself, with ink I have purchased online, and get a lot more use out of it than just one time; and I print everything possible with black ink only, so my color cartridge will last a long time. (I haven’t had any luck refilling the color Canon cartridges – the colors always seem to mix, even though I put the ink exactly where the Youtube videos tell me to!)

If you have an HP printer and buy their cartridges online, they will come with a recycling mailer.  I know paying list price is passé but our printing load is light/

HP does not appear to offer cartridge recycling in their European markets.

HP have a recycling in the UK and in France when you get a new cartridge a plastic envelope is enclosed (pre addressed and paid )

Hi Nathan, I have a pixma 5750 if I remember correctly without dragging it out, I refill the cartridges myself with a refill kit bought online. You’ll need some gloves as it can get a bit messy but with a bit of peserverence it isn’t hard to do and given the price of new cartridges you’ll save a fair bit of money. I’ve done this with varying success over the years with different Canon printers, some are a bind because of the chip? in the cartridges not playing ball, but the one I have now will accept refilled cartridges after a bit of jiggling around with the menu.

I’ve never successfully refilled a Canon color cartridge – the colors always seem to have mixed with each other when I have tried. How do you do the color cartridge?

When you click on the ‘Equipment Type’ box at the bottom it seems that this site is only for toner cartridges, not inkjet cartridges.

Check with your county to see if they have a electronic recycling program.  We  do in Berks county, Pa.  TV’s, printers, computers etc.

Here in Devon our local recycling centre takes electical items. If you don’t want to dump them put them on free cycle, someones bound to find a use for them if they’re working.

We use 932XL / 933XL (HP7612) and 300XL (HP110 Envy).  No recycling option is offered with these.

I live in the UK. There are a number of options for recycling ink cartridges. Some suppliers such as Stinkyink offer a recycling service. Currently I use Recycle4Charity where a donation for each recycled cartridge goes to my nominated charity.
