Recovering Thunderbird files

My PC (Win7 pro 32) suffered a two step C: drive death. In the first step it lost the ability to backup, make an image or restore and started acting hinky. I knew I had to take some steps to get the most recent things protected. I could copy. Hence, I should have all or most to the e-mails and the address book entries but I don’t know how to identify them nor how to re-introduce them to the new Thunderbird installed on the new C: drive. Any ideas on how to proceed.

(By the way, the new HD & OS now support imaging — something I’ve missed for a long while. And is done every week.)

Thunderbird stores it’s files in a hierarchy under a folder with the profile name, e.g. shte4d.default. If you have a copy of that folder you can import all email into your new Thunderbird location using the ImportExportTools add-on.

Thanks, Paul. I’ve done a quick search and have not found this folder name. There are more things I can do but not for a few days. Would you happen to know some of the folder/file names where e-mails and addresses might be kept? Thanks, again.
