• Recovering a Word .tmp file

    Hi,

    Does anybody know any way to open a ~XXXXXXX.tmp Word document.

      The probability that you can’t do anything useful with it is high, but you can try the following:
      – In Word, select File | Open…
      – In the Files of type dropdown at the bottom of the dialog, select “Recover text from any file (*.*)”.
      – Navigate to the .tmp file and open it.
      – You may be able to recover some or all of the text in the file; all formatting will be lost however.

        Hi Hans,

        I tried that but it just gives a Word Document Corrupt message and does nothing

              If you only want to salvage what contents you can, have you tried opening it with Notepad?
