Recording a Youtube Song

Dear Woody’s Lounge:

I have been trying to download this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6yuR8efotI to my laptop but could not figure out how. I once downloaded a song from Youtube but forgot how I did it.

After giving up, I recorded the song with my MP3 Recorder, but then I realized it only records REC, VOR, and WAV files, none of which can be played on my Blackberry (I need it to be an MP3).

Then I tried recording it on Windows Sound Recorder, but that saves as WMA, which also cannot be played on Blackberry.

Does anyone have any idea how to get that Youtube song to my computer as an MP3?

If you use Firefox, there are a number of different addons you could use at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1/cat:5 to download a video. And at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=video+mp3&cat=all you’ll find some that say they’ll convert to mp3.

And thanks for the link. I like the way Maisky plays this – quite different from say Rostropovich at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR9lCa23kzo, and after listening to Maisky, I feel as though Rostropovich is taking it too fast.

Should you want to record the song and the video as an MP4 file, there’s a neat piece of Javascript which, when turned into a bookmark, enables you to do this. I should probably be crediting someone from the Lounge for this pointer (probably Tony E!), but I’ve forgotten who…
