    I have a problem with any site that request I use reCAPTCHA.  I always get an error message that says;

Error: Invalid API parameter(s). Try reloading the page.

I’ve done a search on the internet and found I’m not the only person with this problem but no one has posted a fix for the problem.  I’ve contacted GOOGLE tech support twice via email and, surprise, no reply.  I’ve tried the following browsers with the same results: Chrome, Firefox, Waterfox, IE, Edge.  I’ve tried with VPN and no VPN.  Private mode and no privacy.  Nothing works.  I’ve also check AskWoody web site and searched the lounge.  Nothing, at least that I can find.

If you have any ideas on how to solve my issue with reCAPTCHA I’d greatly appreciate it.

    Running Win10, ver. 1903, build 18362.592

    Thanks so much.  Stay safe.

If you are comfortable in the registry: regedit
      Try this:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
On the right side, you’ll find a file named:
      “ProxySettingsPerUse” or “Default”
Click it and change its value to “1” (obviously without the ” “).
      Then you accept and reset.
      From:
A few responses said it worked for them.

@Bluetrix  Appreciate the comeback.  Tried the reg changes to no avail.  This problem surfaced about a month ago and I just can’t find a solution.  I appreciate you reaching out.  Thanks.

This might seem drastic (it isn’t really) check your Restore Points. If there is a point dated before you think this problem arose you might try rolling your comp back to that date. I’m not suggesting a year old restore point 🙂

Before you do this, create a new restore point.

I’ve chased problems, and restoring my  system to a previous date gave me a starting point to work from.

It always helps to have a working, up-to-date external backup for this kind of situation. You’ll hear that a LOT on AskWoody.

          A restore point may help.

Thanks again, Bluetrix.  I do have external backups for this system.  I read where Woody is giving the go ahead to update.  I may give that a try.  I”m running 1903 and may give 1909 a shot.  See if that fixes the problem.  Thoughts?

Woody turns on the green light after updates have been used by the crash test dummies, and any major issues patched. DEFCON2 will return just before patch Tuesday (2nd Tues of mth.)

Note, when doing a feature update, Microsoft likes to play with restore points, they can disappear!

With the captcha issue, I’d try a restore point, to many tiny things can keep a normally working feature, captcha in this instance, from working. Assuming you haven’t changed anything on your comp, it’s worth a try since you are considering v1909.

Roll back, test it, then update.

You probably will not notice much difference between v1903 and v1909, both use the same code.

Install windscribe vpn chrome addon and turn autopilot on. This solved same problem I had.

Thank you, this works. I have tried the regedit thing and flushing dns but it still hadn’t worked, but this seemed to do the trick. Thank you!

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
“ProxySettingsPerUse” or “Default”  change its value to “1”
      WORKED FOR ME.
      THANK YOU  !!!!
