I am running Windows Vista, Ultimate Edition in 64-bit mode.

Each time, after reboot, REALUPGRADE.EXE task seem to be multiplying. I can have 25+ copies after just a couple days. I play ‘whack-a-mole’ in task manager, and they all go away, only usually to return
This has been occurring over the last few releases of REALPLAYER

I have even uninstalled and re-installed and no help!

REAL.COM is, of course, no help!

Did some research and some people suggest it is malware / virus.

    BUT:
    A) I am running McAfee, and it is fully up to date.
    B) I am running SUPERANTISPYWARE, fully up to date, and nightly scans.
    C) Windows Defender is running.

    SO
I am discounting the fact that it might be malware/virus.

    Any ideas?

Kill all Real Player’s running instances and permanently uninstal the player.
Try Winamp instead, you’ll find it easier on system resources and it will play a wide variety of formats.

Interesting thread. Need some advise please:
I am running Vista 32 and have installed Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and also Quicktime. All are latest versions.
Do I need all these or will WMP now handle most audio/video formats?
