I see the Read Aloud feature in Microsoft New Edge. It looks it has been there a few years.

Doing a search I see it is also available as a Firefox Add-on and tried it out. (It is a Mozilla Recommended Add-On so I don’t mind trying it out.)

The versions both basically do the same function. The previous Edge version use to read what you highlighted, now it starts from the top of the page. The Firefox version has more options to customize the Read Aloud Add-on but it highlights the reading material in its own window. The Edge version highlights the current sentence and word. I haven’t decide which version I like better yet.

Chrome looks like you need to be in developer mode to access it so I didn’t try it.

The Firefox Add-On needs you to highlight / select the text to read aloud then click the Read Aloud icon.

Now the Edge version put in a control near the top of the browser to pause the reading. There is also a back and forward button.

FWIW, my Firefox browser of choice is Firefox ESR (seems to have the least amount of problems).

Currently I favour the ChrEdge Read Aloud slightly more.
