    Hi

On a recent trip to the States I discovered Ranch dressing and rather liked most of the versions served to me. Best was the dressing served at Black Angus Steakhouse in Orlando (Kissimmee).

Back in the UK I have tried lots of the sauces but almost all are nasty tasting, vinegary and not in any way creamy. Supermarket versions are all horrible and the best I have found is one from a firm called Cardini who claim to have invented the Caesar salad. Even that one is made in Europe.

Has anyone come across a good, original USA Ranch dressing here in the UK or does anyone know of an importer?

    Regards
    David

We have a few little Mexican delis dotted around Edinburgh – and they sell Amercian makes of all different dressings including Ranch. Try Yellow Pages for something in your area?

I’d suggest American Soda – but they are out of stock right now…

        Thanks guys.

American Soda do now have Hidden Valley Ranch in stock. Postage is rather steep. I finally found a bottle on ebay at a more reasonable postage rate. Once I’ve tried this brand and found whether I like it, I can buy larger quantities more economically or try making it myself using the recipes you’ve highlighted.

Carolyn – aah, if I still lived in Edinburgh I wouldn’t have had a problem. Bags of delis – I remember a great one just across the Meadows from the hospital. Very long time ago though! Mansfield, where I live now, is the a***hole of England and delis are unheard of hereabouts.

Try making your own. There’s a “clone” recipe for the original Ranch dressing from Hidden Valley here and one that claims to be a duplicate of the original here.

Or you can buy the dry packets by the case on Amazon.
