Will I be able to run my Quicken 99 for Windows under Windows XP? In general, will my programs for Win 95 be able to run under XP?

Best check with the program’s web site. They may have downloads for XP, or advice for you. In many cases you need to upgrade, for a fee. Example Norton AV 2002.

Quicken 99 runs just fine under Windows XP. If you have Windows XP Professional, however, and set it up for more than one user, it’s best to uninstall Quicken (the uninstall does not delete any of your data files) and then reinstall it. If you don’t, the program will function properly, but it can only be accessed from the administrator accounts. If you have more than one person using your computer, you don’t want all of them to be set up as administrators.
Once you have done this, then open the Control Panel, select Folder Options and click the View tab. At the bottom of the “Advanced settings”, uncheck “Use simple file sharing”. This will then allow you to go to the folder where Quicken was installed and assign specific rights to specific users.
As for other Windows 95 programs, when you first insert the Windows XP installation CD, select “Check system compatibility” before you install Windows XP. Follow the screen prompts, and when this phase is finished, a report is generated which gives very detailed instructions regarding what hardware and software on your computer is incompatible with WinXP and what steps to follow. If you follow these recommendations, you should have no trouble.
      Good Luck.
