I know very well that Windows merge the content in some of the user folders that are specific for the current user with the content in some folders under All Users. For example:
    – Desktop
    – Start Menu

With the recent uninstall and install of a program (the new version of Ad-Aware), I became aware(!) of an odd thing. I install this program for all users (even though there is only two accounts; my and the Admin) since troubleshooting can include using other accounts.

Now I find that the install program creates the folder:
Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftInternet Explorer, and the subfolder Quick Launch. Then place a shortcut there.

I don’t normally use the Quick Launch toolbar on this computer, I just enabled it to see what was there and checked the folders in Documents and Settings.

In Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch there is a shortcut to Adaware SE, this does not appear in the quick launch toolbar.

The Quick Launch folder under All Users on my machine contains just the icon for Adaware se. The Quick Launch folder for my personal profile contains the 15 shortcuts that reside on my Quick Launch toolbar. HTH smile

Yep, seems like Ad-Aware is lonely in that folder (it created). The question was more if the QL folder, under All Users, doesn’t merge with the one under “user”. I did of course test with some other shortcuts into the folder. But it seems like we all, whether we use QL or not, have a shortcut and folder created to no use.

          Thanks,
