I have NT on my computer at work and I do not have Quick Launch on the taskbar. Right-clicking on the taskbar does not show the “toolbars” option as HELP says it should.
    Anyone know where it’s hiding??

It is hiding in Windows 98, ME, or 2000. It does not exist in NT.

        Hi,
You can have it in NT if you have installed IE4 SP2 (I think or might be SP1).
        Hope that helps.

Then you must have to do something else like turn on “Active Desktop.” I have an NT 4.0 SP6 system that has had every IE from 4.0 to 5.5 installed and I don’t have the quick launch on the task bar.

Yes, I think it is related to Active Desktop (which is something I’ll live with to have the Quick Launch and Desktop toolbars!)

The active desktop for nt4 and win95 comes when you install ie4 and choose to install the Active Desktop. To get the active desktop you have to uninstall the various nt service packs back to sp3 then install sp4 and ie4. When installing ie4 choose to install the Active Desktop.

If you have a custom ie5 package created with the Internet Explorer Admin Kit you can apparently install active desktop. But I’ve never figured out how to do it.

You don’t have to have the active desktop operating for the quick launch to be available. You should have the option to install active desktop (and thus the quick launch bar) but you can turn the active desktop to a normal versus web view and still get all the benefits.
