I was reading Susan’s article again and I still am not sure of two updates.

    First, KB2993928 in her article
The patches in MS14-059 include KB 2992080 for ASP.NET MVC 5.0, KB 2993928 for MVC 4.0, KB 2993937 for MVC 3.0, KB 2993939 for MVC 2.0, and KB 2994397 for MVC 5.1. Test and install any of those updates offered to protect your servers.

It is the ending, my systems are not servers. Or is this an update for something that is installed on all my systems and something within my system is considered a “server”?

Second is the KB3095649 “Optional” update. I went to the Microsoft website and from what I can see this update of for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2, but my systems are Windows 7 so I am wondering if I should just pass on this one. What is stranger to me is that I do have one machine that is Windows 8.1 and since this one says it is for Windows 8.1 I also wonder why it is not offered for this computer. Seems strange to me.

I’d like to hear what anyone thinks about these updates. Thanks

      Is ASP.NET installed?

Looks like a total Microsoft SNAFU with the KB number or links to me. Others are equally mystified: What is KB3095649

It does appear there are two totally different updates marked KB3095649; one for Windows 7 and one for Windows 8.1.

Hello BruceR. I looked in my programs listing and no; no ASP.NET. I also went in to the “Turn Windows features on or off” and under the Internet Information Services it is not installed either. I checked on 3 of my systems, they match too.

On the KB3095649 amazing you found the Windows 7 update version. My systems are 64-bit so not sure on this one. Maybe leave off and hide for now.

      Thanks BruceR

I was offered KB3088195 as an Optional on my Win 7 which is also for Win 8.1 and Server 2012 so I hid that one.
